5 Reasons Why We Will Always Love The World Cup

It is Thursday, June 14, 2018. The day the World Cup 2018 begins. We are just excited about it and have been looking forward to it for a while now. I don’t know if it is just us, but we feel there is a vibe and mood that the world cup comes with. Even the non-football fans we feel this is something you cannot miss. World cup always feels like a great event; get out your vuvuzela and just celebrate.

Since 2010, which still remains our favorite world cup ever maybe because it was the first time we understood soccer well but honestly; we just loved that it was in Africa and the opening ceremony was to die for. Brings us to our first point why we love the world cup:

1. Opening Ceremony

Watching the opening ceremony with all the creativity not to mention all the awesome artists that perform and the lovely dances. This is something we never want to miss and hopefully a day in the future we will get to see it live. Seeing the creativity and all the colors in perfect sync give the heart a little peace and joy. So even if you don’t watch football, look out for this event because it is more than AWESOME!

2. Watching the Games

As much as Kenya (our country) is not participating; we have got some cool African countries to look out for. Nevertheless, even without supporting a single team; watching the games is a time to bond. Most guys really like football and for the ladies grab a blanket (especially if you are in Nairobi; its cold 😢) and sit next to him. You may not talk but celebrate the goals together. For us, these are the little moments that make our bond stronger. Going out with friends and watching the games is also good bonding time and the world cup is always a perfect excuse to plan a meet up for the next 3 or so weekends.😉

3. The Emotional Rollercoaster

As much as you tell yourself there is no team you want to support; when a match begins you’ll always have a favorite. Is game luck? There is that time when your team loses and you are just so sad. Or the game was too hot that it went to penalties and you just start your prayers at that moment. Then this period, your team has been winning all through and every day feels like Christmas. Its just fun to move through the world cup emotional motions. Your team is beaten and you just start supporting another team; the variety that world cup gives you. Things are always changing. For the ladies, looking for the new hot player and watching all his team’s games haha… there is always somebody new every world cup. Anxious to know who will shine in the 2018 world cup.

4. It Happens every 4 Years.

This is probably sad but it makes you anticipate it for a good four years. Imagine a series that is released every four years; it would be boring and fun. Boring to wait that long and fun when it is actually released. That is the joy of the world cup. 31 days of fun and 4 years of waiting for another episode. It makes the period special. Did we mention arguing who the winner will be? On to next . . .

5. Waiting for the World Cup Winner.

There are always these statistics on who will win. Well, Math is rarely wrong but well sometimes the unexpected happens. When Brazil got a huge beating by Germany 1 – 7. As much as they saw it coming, that was too much to bear. I guess we slept by the third goal. It was too painful to watch for the Brazil supporters and not to mention that their favorite player had been injured. The main reason we even watch the world cup is to start predicting who will win then eventually make fun of all the wrong predictions. The day of the final game is a day probably you don’t want to miss. First, the tension, then, the closing ceremony and seeing people cry (some joyful, some very sad).

Finally,

Who are you supporting in the World Cup 2018? For us, we will reveal very soon after we know who everyone else is supporting hahaha…

We wish all the teams all the best. May they make their countries proud. For the viewers, like us, make the best out of this period. It comes once every four years, so, treasure it.
