Living God’s Way Does Not Have To Be Hard

Today I want to preach not because I am that knowledgeable in this sector but because I feel in the world of today, we are unable to relate what is in the Bible to our daily life. However, that is the purpose of this section called spiritual growth and this is the first article. This article will focus on how to live God’s way.

Looking at your life, do you think you live a life that God wants of you? Do you practice His teachings? Do you find it hard to relate God’s way with the realities of life? Honestly, yes! I do struggle sometimes but wisdom and understanding help me out.

Out here, there are people who firmly believe in God but when you see their actions you wonder. On the other hand, there are those who do not believe in God but try to live a good life. Nobody is perfect and nobody knows it all. As to why would I even bother to talk about spiritual growth?

Spiritual Growth

To me, everything has no meaning if it is not done to serve the Lord. People are going astray because they no longer understand faith. Society is becoming messed up because nobody understands who they truly are. There is happiness, contentment and ease in knowing that someone stronger and more superior exists over you. It does not matter what your religion/domination is; at the end of it all you believe and serve a Superior being.

My mission is not to prove that God exists or to force you to believe in God. I am here to help you grow your soul and generally live a more content and happy life. I will select a Bible reading and explain in my own understanding how to apply it in our daily lives. But before that . . .

Why did I choose a journey of faith?

The answer is simple, I never feel alone when I know I have God by my side. I know I do not make Him happy always, but I try my best. The best part is that He does not expect you to be perfect, but He wants you to try. He wants you to be an example to others that He may show His works through you.

Prayers have worked miracles in my life. I definitely, am not the most prayerful person, but I pray daily at least once when I wake up. This year one of my resolutions was to read the Bible daily. This has opened my eyes more than anything. I was and still am in a search to deepen my faith and somehow, I am learning little by little. And that is what I want to share with you.

Faith is the answer to a lot of problems. You could be the richest person, but you have no internal happiness, you need spiritual nourishment. Nevertheless, faith is not a trade. God just needs you to believe in Him and not just in words but in action. He does not need your money or your assets, He just needs you. Faith is not business, it is dedicating your life honestly to God.

Always know that God cannot be bribed with money. Give because you want to give not because it is an obligation.

I can talk about a lot of things when it comes to faith but let me pause here and jump straight to today’s reading and reflection. The theme is how God wants us to act; living God’s way.

Today’s reading is amazing and holds a special place in my life. Whenever life throws blows at me, I remember this reading and somehow, I know how to act. Initially, I had a hard time interpreting it but after listening to a sermon about it, it became easier for me.

Luke 6: 27 – 38

“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

This was a deep message. You might find it the hardest thing to practice in your daily life. All the same, Luke 6 has fully explained how to live God’s way. After practicing this way of life, it becomes easier and easier each time.

Love your enemies! How? Enemies are those who hate you not those whom you hate, at least according to me. You should not have room for hate. When someone does something you do not like; forgive and learn. There is no need to give somebody an opportunity to cloud your heart with bad feelings.

Another lesson from this is to do away with revenge. Do away with the heart of vengeance. If someone does something that you do not like or agree with, learn to let go and if the person wants a second chance; why not? But do not give the second chance blindly. That’s where you ask God for wisdom and strength and trust that He will lead the way.

Lastly, give without expecting a return. Many times, we do good so as to be praised or get some good out of it. Do not expect someone to be kind because you are kind. Nevertheless, never stop being good because nobody is good to you. We have been promised a great reward, don’t forget!

Being close to God starts with being good to those around you. Simple logic is if you cannot treat those you can see well, how is it that you will treat the one whom you can’t see well?

You may not pray or believe in God but at least you can try and practice the above and you will happier and living the life God wants us to.

Lord, help me to me to be a loving person. Remove the spirit of hate and vengeance in me. Give me wisdom to know what to do when faced with temptation. When I feel like I want to revenge or hate, help me to love more instead. Help me to do good and not tire. Increase my faith in you. Help me to trust in you. I pray for all those who wish me bad that they may realise the truth that comes from you. Light their paths and fill them with joy. Have mercy on me.

Living God's way doesn't have to be hard.
